Council launches community engagement program

8 Jun 2017 11:00 AM -

Snowy Valleys Council will launch its exciting new Snowy Valleys Up Close project on Wednesday 7 June 2017, with the aim to encourage local residents to explore the communities around them.

Administrator Paul Sullivan said the concept was conceived during consultations with the community for the corporate identity, and was an agreed priority of the Local Representative Committee and Council’s Executive team.

“We needed something that was somewhat removed from the Council itself, to encourage residents to have an ‘up close’ look at the myriad of experiences that the Snowy Valleys Council area has to offer, without being all tied up in the politics of the merger,” he said.

The project is based on professional videography that showcases some of the best places to visit in the Snowy Valleys. One new experience will be added each week over the course of a year and shared via a highly visual website and social media channels.

“Snowy Valleys Up Close is a collection of inspiring stories told by our local ambassadors. These people are everyday residents of this beautiful area, community members, leaders, volunteers, shop keepers. We were thrilled that the list of ambassadors is growing, with so many people willing to share what they love about the area. I encourage others to follow in their footsteps and explore the fabulous experiences our region has to offer.

There is so much to see and do in our beautiful region and Snowy Valleys Up Close will inspire you to plan new exciting trips with your family and friends”, Mr Sullivan said.

Snowy Valleys Council locals are invited to share their own favourite experiences and become an Up Close ambassador to feature on the project’s website and social media channels.
