Tumbafest 2018 is thrilled to announce Aria Hall of Fame inductee, #1 selling Platinum artist and Australian Icon, Russell Morris as headline act for the 21st annual event. Morris will feature as headline on both days of the event, bringing his two distinct musical styles to each day.

Shooting to fame in the mid-60’s with ‘Somebody’s Image’, Morris had a string of hits including ‘Hush’ and the Bob Dylan classic ‘Baby Blue’.

In 1969 he and producer Molly Meldrum released ‘The Real Thing’, Australia’s only true psychedelic #1 hit and a song that is played regularly on commercial radio to this day. Following that, Morris penned breakthrough hits such as; ‘Sweet Sweet Love’, ‘Wings of an Eagle’, ‘Rachel’, ‘Part 3 into Paper Walls’, and ‘The Girl That I Love’.

Constantly in demand, Morris tours nationally throughout the year as well as appearances internationally. Morris has worked alongside industry heavyweights like Cher, The Bee Gees, Linda Ronstadt, The Beach Boys and in 2012 toured Australia with the hugely successful ‘Long Way To The Top’.

Morris captured the hearts and imaginations of Australians in 2012 when he released the ‘Sharkmouth’ album, a collection of tunes written about historic Australian figures. The first in a trilogy of albums, ‘Sharkmouth’ retells some amazing stories using blue and rock to create a fantastic historical account.

The album reached #1 on the iTunes Blues Charts and #1 on the Australian Blues Radio Charts. Morris won the 2013 ARIA award for Best Blues n Roots album for ‘Sharkmouth’.

In April 2014, Morris released ‘Van Diemen’s Land’, the second album of the trilogy covering great Australian characters and stories such as Breaker Morant, Sandakan, and the Eureka Stockade. ‘Van Diemen’s Land’ debut at #4 on the National Aria Charts, won best Australian Blues Album in 2015 and Morris won best male vocalist at the Chain awards.

In 2015, Morris released the third album ‘Red Dirt – Red Heart’, telling the story of the Australian interior, indigenous heroes and bushrangers. ‘Red Dirt – Red Heart’ debuted at #6 on the National Aria Charts and was highly successful on the National Aria Blues/Jazz Charts.

Tumbafest crowds are set to be entertained by Morris across the both days of the event! Morris will be rocking out his favourite hits on Saturday and then his well-known blues tunes for ‘Blues Sunday’.

Event organisers are delighted to have Morris headline the event in 2018, accompanied by a high quality main stage line-up. More artist announcements will be made shortly.

Always the last weekend in February each year, Tumbafest will be held on 24-25 February 2018. The festival will also feature wine courtyard, cooking demonstrations, market stalls and children’s amusements.
