Tumbarumba Retirement Village

Are you looking to retire to a scenic country location?  Designed for people aged over 55, Tumbarumba’s brand new retirement village offers the opportunity to live an independent lifestyle, in the beautiful town of Tumbarumba. The village consists of modern, spacious independent living units, all featuring panoramic views of Tumbarumba township and the stunning Snowy Mountains.

Located in Mitchell Street, adjacent to the Tumbarumba Hospital, the units are a stone’s throw from everyday amenities and the town’s main street. At the Tumbarumba Retirement Village, residents enjoy the companionship of other residents and a sense of security whilst maintaining an independent lifestyle.

Home styles designed with your needs in mind

The two bedroom villas are purpose-built, and designed for the independent, active retiree who does not require assistance with day-to-day living. They are ideal for seniors who no longer want the burden of maintaining a house.

Our Independent Living Units all offer:

Large Modern Design

  • Disabled Access

  • 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms

  • Private outdoor living areas

  • Secure garage with storage area

  • Off street visitor parking

  • Maintained common areas and gardens

  • Stunning views of the Snowy Mountains

Affordable quality

The retirement village has no staff and is operated as a non profit service to the community by Council. Residents furnish their own units and are responsible for their own laundry, cleaning their unit, meals, shopping and so on. However, common areas (including gardens) are maintained by Council.

Future developments

Stage one has been completed, and consists of four independent living units. A master plan of eighteen independent living units incorporating panoramic view of Tumbarumba township has been drawn up. Construction on stage 2 will commence in 2015, and will consist of four units.

Occupation arrangements

Residents purchase a licence to occupy a unit. This means that they have a lifetime right to occupy the unit, but do not own the actual bricks and mortar or land. Each year a portion of the licence fee is retained by Council. The money is used for future renovations and the replacement of fittings over the life of the unit. The retention rate is based on a sliding scale over a period of 10 years with a maximum of 50% of the licence fee retained by Council. The balance of the licence fee will be returned to the resident on vacating the unit. There are no exit fees.

Residents will also need to make a weekly contribution towards upkeep and general maintenance. Council strongly advises that interested residents seek independent advice from their financial planner or solicitor in determining the suitability of this style of living.
