For Children

Tumbarumba Region provides a beautiful environment to raise children. There are lots of activities available in the area for children to enjoy, from skiing at Selwyn Snowfields, to pony club, taekwondo, football and netball.

Pre-school aged children and below will enjoy playgroup and storytime at the Tumbarumba Library, while teens may like to get involved in Interact or Youth Council.

Snowy Valleys Council - Tumbarumba provides a range of Children’s Services, including the following:


Carcoola Children’s Centre is Tumbarumba’s long day care centre, providing day care for 37 children from six weeks of age.


Puggles is a mobile service providing long day care to rural and isolated communities for children aged six weeks to school age. Puggles provides services to the communities of Rosewood, Humula, Tarcutta, Brungle, Cabramurra and Adjungbilly.


Tumboosh is a before and after school care service operating Monday to Friday from 7am to school time, then from after school until 6pm. Vacation care is also offered in school holidays from 7am until 6pm. Up to 30 children utilise this service each day.

Youth Council

Tumbarumba has an active Youth Council, with membership open to all young people in the shire from 12 to 17 years. TYC is involved in community service as well as providing recreation and support for young people.

Tumbarumba Playgroup

Tumbarumba has an active playgroup which meets every Friday between 10.00am and 12 noon at the rear of the Rural Transaction Centre at 10 Bridge Street. New members are always welcome. Please note that the playgroup does not operate during school holidays.

Pre-School Story Time at the Tumbarumba Library is held every Wednesday from 10.30am – 11.30am.

Khancoban has a toy library and pre-school. The toy library visits Tumbarumba every month.
